Nihonshu Fair

The Nihonshu Fair 2008 on Wednesday, June 11, promises to be the world's largest sake-tasting event, offering fans the chance to try 500 award-winning premium brews (ginjoshu) and sake from every region of Japan.

The event combines two major public tastings at two locations within Ikebukuro Sunshine City; one ticket allows entry to both venues. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., you can sample sake to your heart's content and then pick up a bottle for later. All the sake exhibited at the event will be available for purchase. Nibbles will be on offer to add a taste of local flavor.

Tickets are ¥3,500 at the door. Advance tickets for ¥3,000 can be ordered at Sake Plaza in Nishi-Shinbashi ([03] 3519-2091) or online at eplus.jp/sake (only in Japanese). The fair will take place at the World Import Mart Bldg., 4F, and Bunka Kaikan 4F, Ikebukuro Sunshine City, 3-1, Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo.
